Mantra chanting – Transcendental Meditation Secrets

Transcendental Meditation is a very powerful mean of attaining a peaceful mind. They can be an effective force in creating something new. Speaking about Mantras is the revelation of ancient secrets that have been kept sacred from several ages, secrets that continue to benefit humanity irrespective of its circumstances. The mantra is like a seed. Every seed has the potential to become a tree. Similarly, these sound vibrations contain all the possibilities of creation. Some mantras are in the seed form, called the bija mantras. Others are fully expressed, i.e., the fruit of the mantra is also expressed, such as the Gayatri mantra.

The entire universe was built on sound, which is nothing but vibration. By vibrating a certain combination of sounds, we are able to tune into various levels of intelligence, or consciousness. Thus, chanting mantras is a conscious method of controlling our moods, and in turn, our frequency and resultant all-around radiance, much like changing the channel on the television.
Mantras are a secret. That which is kept a secret alerts the sub-conscious mind. The mantras work at the level of the consciousness. The power of mantra is betrayed in the roots of the sanskrit word, man, meaning mind, and, tra, meaning deliverance, or, projection. Thus, chanting the sacred sound of the mantra delivers us from our sense dependency, from our unrelenting habit of looking toward the senses for gratification; pleasures that are and that will always be, fleeting and limited–how much can you eat? Or drink? Or buy? Sense gratification never really gratifies. We are always left either unfulfilled and guilty–wishing we had never started, or else, wanting more and lamenting the loss. When we want a seed to sprout, it needs to be sown into the soil, hidden, a secret. If it is simply thrown around, birds may eat them up. We can read and learn about mantras and their uses from books and the internet but that will only satisfy the intellect and not translate into experience.

Mantras are to be chanted 108 times once or twice in a day with the help of beads/mala, preferably in sandhi time( union of day and Night, dawn or dusk) facing east, northeast or North, at the same place everyday.
We should purify ourselves at least by cleaning our face, hands and feet.
Start with chanting Om thrice. This will calm your mind and you will be able to concentrate more.
While chanting concentrate on the words of the mantra( should understand the meaning).
Surrender yourself completely to the divine consciousness and understand that you are a part of this vast and made up of the same things.
If a mantra is chanted one lakh times with proper Havan vidhi we get siddhi over that.
